Mission Statement
 

Shining Stars Preschool is a structured, Bible oriented teaching school for children ages one through five years old.  The preschool is a ministry of Sunset Church of Christ that seeks to develop each child in the unique way that God has intended, and to encourage spiritual, mental, physical, emotional, and social growth.  We provide children with fun educational activities that are age-appropriate and will stimulate their minds. The school is open on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00-1:00 in order to best meet the needs of our students and their parents.

Philosophy Statement
 

At Shining Stars Preschool, we believe that God has designed each child to be a unique and special individual with intellectual, physical, and social talents.  For students to develop these talents, they should be given the opportunity to practice them by playing and interacting with adults and other children in a safe, caring, God-centered environment.  Encouraging and supporting the children as they explore, touch, and discover new things about their world will motivate them to become life-long learners, and will lead them to success in their future.

God has blessed preschool children with active minds and bodies, and they have a natural curiosity about new things around them.  The teachers at Shining Stars Preschool highly value these characteristics in the children and encourage these behaviors by guiding the children to explore and experiment through hands-on activities. The teachers create thematic lessons that foster the children’s imaginations and value their ideas while still providing the structure that is necessary for unfolding a deeper understanding of a variety of topics. 

 

Shining Stars Preschool is a place designed to give the students space to explore, experiment, and make discoveries for themselves in both outdoor and indoor environments.  Students will be encouraged to behave in a Christ-like manner as they work independently and cooperatively at various playing and learning centers.  Most importantly, Shining Stars provides an environment in which each individual child is loved and well cared for and where their futures are highly valued.
